Countryside panorama

Earlier this week I decided to try something new, creating a panorama. In search for a perfect spot to take photographs I headed out to the countryside and soon the spot was found. A wide open field with a few eye catching details and nice forest limiting the view. And of course the red barn, typical to the Finnish countryside.

The panorama itself is build from four pictures and all put together with my old friend Photoshop. I also used some radial blur for the sky in order to make it look more dramatic.

Filter try out

Recently I bought ND8 filter. I've never had any sort of filter before, so this was pretty exciting to see how much does the ND8 filter dim the photos. I took this photo around 11pm, the weather was still pretty bright even though the sun had gone to sleep beyond the horizon. I am satisfied with the results, so I will definitely use this filter in the future as well. 30 second exposure makes the surface look pretty smooth, which looks pretty damn cool in my opinion.

Exposure: 30 sec

Maakansa festival 2013

A couple of weeks ago I had an assignment to photograph a small local one-day festival called Maakansa. My dear friend photographed this festival last year and he wanted to join the party this year, so he kindly asked me to take care of photographing the event this year and recommended me to organizers. Of course I took the challenge and agreed. Even though I had seen the last year's photos, I had no idea what to expect. After the festival I felt positively suprised, and I guess they have to find an another photographer for next year because I'm planning to join the party as well next year. Naturally there were couple of bands playing, but the organizers arranged a quiz, magician, sauna and traditional Finnish date game for the visitors as well. The other events along the bands were pretty unexpected but seemed to be pretty popular. The milieu was very atmospheric, the festival was held actually at countryside in middle of nowhere and the theme was along the same lines. Beautiful day at countryside, good music, delicious food, plenty of awesome people and last but not least ice cold drinks, PERFECT!
